Christmas lighting has barely an influence on your energy consumption

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. However, due to the turmoil on energy markets more and more people worry about their electricity consumption. Luckily, this is no reason to keep your Christmas lighting in the attic as the newest generation with LED technology will barely have an influence on your energy bills.

LED lighting is a must

Do you still use your classic Christmas lighting with halogen bulbs? Then, it's high time you replaced it with some high-quality LED Christmas lighting. The consumption difference is larger than you may think.

As an example, the Vellight garland with 120 LEDs (Stella model) has a power consumption of 3.6 W. When you leave it switched on for 8 hours a day for 30 days, you will have consumed 0.86 kWh. At an average energy cost of € 0.73 per kWh, this makes a total cost of € 0.63.

For comparison, a halogen garland with a power consumption of 41 W totals a consumption of 9.84 kWh for 30 days, costing you a whopping € 7.18.

Conclusion? Switch to LED lighting! The more so if you are using multiple Christmas garlands in and around your home, it is interesting to opt for energy-efficient LED lighting.

Timer and solar energy

You want to save even more on your energy consumption? Use a timer to automatically switch your outdoor Christmas lighting on and off. This way, you will never accidentally forget to switch off the lighting at night.

The ever-increasing energy cost is no longer an excuse to skip on your Christmas decoration. Just make sure to use LED lighting and enjoy a cosy and twinkling Christmas period.
